Shaquille O'Neal's Residintial Kitchen: Miami, Florida

These two boards are the most informative out out of five [a little much, i know].

A perspective of the kitchen work area. The space includes a Kohler integrated apron-front stone sink, Britannia European rustic appliances, and rubbed bronze hardware. [old.world.charm]

This GIANT island is for Shaq and his family to entertain at least eight guests comfortably.

This wall is made of Lightblock and illuminated from within. Also the cabinets are modular and move freely up and down the walls on tracks. No toe kicks for Shaq!!!

Wrapping things up!!

This CD cover was our final SYTYCD! YAY! I even won for the week with this one, which was super cool. :]

Back to the drafting board...

For this weeks SYTYCD we designed a blog header that well-describes second year.

Looking Back

Looking back I can see that my drawing skills have improved tremendously in just one year. This perspective I did in first year licks depth, realistic color and texture, and is absent of light and shadow. I am glad to see that I am growing as an artist and am ready to llok back on second year to say that I improved even more.

Millwork Composition

This Millwork poster was used to visually describe all of the cabinetry in my calebrity kitchen project. Since my client was Shaquille O'Neal, I created an illuminated cabinet wall with modular cabinets. This would allow the cabinets to be moved up and down freely so that a person of any height could use them comfortably.

Final Portfolio

I love this graphic I found for my final portfolio cover!

If you can't tell... this is concrete :]

This week in drawing we focused on rendering materials. We rendered in pen, pencil, and markers to see which effect worked the best. I was definitely much better at rendering in Chartpak than the other two! The hardest part of the assignment for me was making the material look like the real thing and not a graphic abstraction of the real thing.

SYTYCD: Case Piece

This week for SYTYCD we turned in a rendering of our case piece. I chose to render mine with Sketchup and Photoshop. This is a 9'x9' island which serves as the communal point and centerpiece of "Shaq's Kitchen".

Enter the Cirque

This week we began to merge our studio project with our drawing project. We were asked to create a composite drawing for our concept; mine is Cirque Du Soliel. I started by drawing the three contortionists and the man behind the title with pen and chartpak. I then put the drawings together with two of my precedent images and four main words to create the composite.

After our composite drawing, we designed a logo to use for all of our project documents. I used the drawing of the three contortionists and used photoshop to add some interesting lighting effects.

REDO?

Original

Redo

This week for SYTYCD I redid my kitchen project logo by giving it a fiery backdrop...which works best?

FINALLY A WINNER!!

I never thought I would have won "So You Think You Can('t) Draw", our visual communication class drawing competition!!! This week we had to draw a camera with something that gave it a sense of scale, then we got to photoshop the piece to our desires!
Of course the digital assignment would be the one i win... :]

PHOTOSHOP 101!

This week we learned about using Photoshop. I had used the program before, but was pleased with the new tips and tricks Shawn showed us. The first perspective is an original hand rendered perspective of the view point project space; the following are Photoshop edited.

With this one I worked the most with color, shadow and highlight. On the back wall, I changed the color and overlayed it with a texture filter. I also added shadow and highlight with the burn and dodge tools. I think this one is a little "over-Photoshopped" though.

This one looks a bit more natural, but also a bit boring. I tried to play with the color balance on the back wall and couch.

Going in the opposite direction, I went for a more vibrant color scheme here. I mixed what I did in the others. (Color balance, shadow, highlight, and textures)

Castles in Sketchup????

It was really exciting to learn how to draw from Google Sketchup. I am much more of a "computer person" so using something I created on the computer to make my drawings more accurate in perspective was great! This castle was traced over and then rendered with Chartpak markers.

Starting the Year Off...

Our first assignment this year was to make a name tag for our desks. The objective was to create an appealing presentation of graphic text. We used our names and a quote that related to design.

This is Gregory Hickman...hahahahaha! I'm getting better at drawing people, but he still looks like his face is melting a bit...

Happy Halloween

In the spirit of Halloween, we drew a haunted house and wrote a short narrative along with it for SYTYCD this week.

Throwback :]

For this SYTYCD we did a throwback perspective of a space. I chose the 20's Art Deco style.
